REVIEW- Golden Sun: Dark Dawn

First, a note about my format. I can be very long winded when writing about things, as you will most likely notice soon. If you’re too lazy/busy/impatient/whatever to read ‘the long version’, I sum things up in the ‘short and simple’ bit at the bottom. This will probably be how I do all of my reviews in the future. Also, this is by no means a final review. I will probably update this in the future, whether with updated thoughts (especially if there’s a lot of post-story content), or revisions, or whatever. If I do update, I will make it clear in the title of the post. Finally, I will assign a numerical score to the game at the end of my review, but it will be mostly nonsensical, so just pretend I didn't assign it one. Now, for the review:

Welcome to Silver Asterism!
We are zagman505 (that's me, writing this right now, Jeremy) and shoofle (Doug), and we like video games... a lot. So you'll find here some of our many thoughts about video games, from what we think of specific games to what we think of game genres to what we think would make a cool game, and so on. It will be rare, but occasionally we might even talk about something that's not a game! We'll see.

In any case, that's about all I had to say for this first post. Hope you enjoy reading what we have to say!

(Note: In the near future, I'll actually start things off with a review of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn)

About us!

This is the post about us!

Screen name: Shoofle
Favorite game/series: Shadow of the Colossus
My favorite game is Shadow of the Colossus. Can I tell you some more about Shadow of the Colossus? It's the best. I love it so much. I'm back from the beach! I've been playing games pretty much all my life - as long as I can remember, at least. If my faulty memory chips serve correctly, my first game was either the original Prince of Persia (God, I loved that game!) or some game where you play as gorillas and stand on buildings and throw explosive bananas at each other. I'm a mathematician, physicist, and computer scientist by (unfinished) schooling, and would love to do something with my light experience programming. I also do other stuff, such as the drawing, the writing, the reading, and the spinning of the poi.

Favorite game/series: Please don't make me choose.
One of my earliest memories is of my parents bringing home an NES they got at a yard sale. I was young, so I couldn't beat any of the games (and probably still can't beat most of them), but basically I grew up on video games. I enjoy playing games from most genres, though I don't play MMO's (I think I'd be easily addicted and need the time to play other games), and don't do much in the way of sports games or sims either. I wouldn't say I'm amazingly skillful, but I love games that provide a fair challenge (two of my most recent favorite games have been Super Meat Boy and The Witcher 2). My desire to create video games was only recently sparked by a bad summer internship working for a company completely unrelated to games. Bored out of my mind, I let my imagination take over and spent the summer writing up ideas for video games. And now, here I am, hoping to get a legitimate job in the video game industry.

Name: Maggie
Screen name: quixoticdreamer
Favorite game/series: The Legend of Zelda
Gameplay level: Normal
I'm a casual gamer who has been transitioning towards more hardcore games. I like strategy games, puzzle games, and RPGs and am not very good at shooters, though I still attempt them to the amusement of everyone in the room. Though I occasionally attempt PC gaming, I'm much more comfortable with a controller than with a mouse. The first video game I ever played was the original Legend of Zelda NES game on an emulator. I made my mom do Ganon's castle because it was too scary for me. (To date, the only main Zelda games I haven't beaten are the Oracle games and Spirit Tracks.) I'm a civil engineer by trade, but I'm minoring in computer science. I'm a writer and, as my handle suggests, a dreamer, which has caused me to become fascinated with game design.
